Visiting Film Artist: Jared Ruga and Amanda Stoddard

Join local SLC filmmakers Jared Ruga and Amanda Stoddard & stars Kristen Ries and Maggie Snyder for a special Q&A about their film QUIET HEROES.
This is a special presentation as part of our THE GREATEST: Life-Changing Documentaries series and a screening of the film will proceed the Q&A.

Jared Ruga is an executive producer with a penchant for screenwriting who develops and produces narrative and documentary projects. He is driven by the guiding ethos of Vavani (the production company he founded and runs): to tell timely, compelling, authentic, and socially conscious stories from underrepresented perspectives. He also serves as President of Media & Entertainment at Sentry Financial.

As the founder and President of Sentry Financial's Media & Entertainment division, Jared is integrally involved with all of Sentry's media portfolio companies. He develops and supervises the strategic vision for the division and oversees the operations of its wholly-owned media companies. Hailing from an extensive liberal arts academic background with advanced degrees in law, business, and film (from the University of Utah) and bachelor's degrees in International Business and Philosophy/Communication (from the Honors Program at the University of San Diego), Jared strives to blend multiple perspectives into a more holistic understanding of the key issues. Engaged in his community, Jared serves on the boards of the Lightspark Foundation and Voterise, and on the Development Committee of Sundance Institute's Utah Advisory Board. He is also an advocate for the LGBTQ community and has taught film classes at the University of Utah.

Amanda Stoddard has worked in several capacities including, editor, camera operator, assistant director, director and producer. A graduate of Film Studies from the University of Utah, Stoddard’s exposure to all facets of the cinematic process has been extensive. This includes projects that have aired on National TV and theatrical release. She has focused her production company toward music videos, documentaries, and sports promotional films. A creative to the core, she is a collaborator at heart and is seeking great projects to which she can lend her tremendous talent. Current projects include, One Revolution (Director) and Lucky Life (Assistant Director).
