Opens 5/11 only at SLFS MOTOR CINEMA

Many know the name Alvin Ailey, but how many know the man? Ailey’s commitment to searching for truth in movement resulted in ground breaking and enduring choreography that centers African American experiences.

The Sundance Institute is proud to present an advanced screening of AILEY before its nationwide release. A darling of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, AILEY will be screened FREE for the Utah community before showing across the country this summer.

AILEY is an artful biopic of the elusive Alvin Ailey, a visionary Black choreographer whose dance company is world renowned. Ailey’s lasting impact on dance, his commitment to highlighting an African American sensibility, and stunning choreography is well captured in Wignot’s poetic documentary.

This program is presented in collaboration with Ballet West, whose 2021 Choreographic Festival will showcase an exciting world premiere and first-time collaboration between Principal Artist Emily Adams and Composer Katy Jarzebowski, an alumna of the Sundance Institute’s Film Music and Sound Lab.

*Tickets for this Community Screening are FREE and on a first come first served basis.  Once all of the tickets are claimed, there will be an onsite waitlist starting one hour before the show.  All filmgoers, for this community screening, will also receive a Real Movie Theatre Popcorn pack with a Large Popcorn and 2 Bottled Waters.
